Background Check

MIDDLE TN
​Pre-Service Educators and Criminal Justice Majors 

OCTOBER 16, 2023 - MAY 17, 2023                                               Part Time - 15- 20 hours per week
Submit required documents no later than October 11, 2023 - Once documents are submitted an interview will be scheduled.  Selection announced October 23, 2023

Position open for 3 Pre-Service Educators who are in their 3rd or 4th year of college, Graduate students, and Criminal Justice Majors.  Preference given to students majoring in the field of Exceptional Education and Criminal Justice. Compensation - $25 per hour for 15 - 20 hours of work per week and 2 mandatory weekend meetings with the Agency Owner and Education Consultant for book study and additional training & development in March and May.  Mandatory meetings will include reviewing and discussing Exceptional Education case studies including an Ed Law - Legal clinic (Lunch will be served).

  • Must have A MINIMUM OF 6 MONTHS EXPERIENCE working with individuals with disabilities (students, personal family members, volunteer opportunities, etc.)
  • 36 college level credits 
  • Age 20 or older
  • Ability to pass a background check

Middle TN positions
POSITION:  Employment Specialist -
​Postsecondary Institutions
​

Opens October 16, 2023                                                                      Part Time 25-30 hours per week
​Setting - postsecondary institutions adult detention centers
​Compensation - Commensurate with experience and education (Range - $18 - $35 per hour)
​
​
​General Job Description - Work on the Postsecondary level supporting college students with disabilities.  Create and review Transition Plans for students.  Attend job shadowing experiences with students; deliver Pre-Employment Transition services to students at postsecondary institutions; and make sure student vocation interests are met. Work with adults aged 18 and up with finding and securing employment. Assist all students with finding internships, apprenticeships, and paid work. Work with a team to create Career and Job Fairs.  Work alongside Instructors, Professors, Directors, and Parents/families to support students and communicate needs and concerns. Attend professor/instructor meetings, community meetings, and college disability resource department meetings.  You are expected to spend 2 days a week at your assigned college campus and the remaining time meeting with college students in groups or one-on-one.

​MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: (Complete General Application)
  • MUST HAVE AT LEAST 6 MONTHS OF PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES AND MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:
    a) A Master's, Bachelor's, or Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university and written documentation of one (1) year of successful year of experience in employment counseling, job placement, job coaching, or a public vocational rehabilitation program;      OR     b) High school diploma or GED and written documentation of two (2) successful years of experience in employment counseling, job placement, job coaching, or a public vocational rehabilitation program may substitute on a year for year basis for the required college education and experience.
  •  ​Age 25 or older
  • Knowledge of Individualized Education Plan (IEP), 504 Plan, Disability categories, and Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE)
  • General knowledge of Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA), Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), & Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
  • Additional experience considered in one or more of the following: exceptional education, Disability services, hiring management, or human resource.

East & West TN
POSITION: Employment Specialist
Workforce & Job Placement Team

Open - Now, End date December 29, 2023                                                       Part Time - Self Paced
​Setting - ARA Home or Satellite Office

​Compensation Cap - $5000 per month (paid based on a set scale and completion of work)
Work Schedule - Once you accept a job you have preset deadlines to complete service for payment

​Description - Work with adults with disabilities with vocational adjustment, trial work, job readiness preparation, job placement, and job coaching at an ARA satellite office. Vocational adjustment and job readiness preparation include using a set curriculum to assist with employment goals.  Assist adults with creating a resume and finding a job.  Assist with finding apprenticeships.  Review and follow the State of TN Individual Plan of Employment for clients. Work within your team to create Career and Job Fairs for the community and local school districts.

​Minimum Requirements: (Complete General Application)
  • High School Diploma
  • Age 25 or older
  • Knowledge of Disability categories 
  • Knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • 1+ years' experience working with adults and students with disabilities and/or exceptional learning needs (personal experience with family members will be considered)
  • Preferred experience in one or more of the following: exceptional education, rehabilitation services, vocational training, job coaching, job counseling, hiring management, and human resource
